I think the problem here is that we could possibly be dealing with a genus or species not native to the UK and trying to compare it with genus and species familiar to us.

Cystoderma certainly has a granular stem below the ring zone but from this photo I detect evidence of warty velor remnants on the cap which for me would rule out Cystoderma and point towards Amanita.

There are 9 species of Csytoderma on the UK checklist with the exception of one they are fairly rare and majority are found with conifers. Just as a point of interest C.fallax is I believe native to North America.
