Re blanket weed: - At this time of year it is a major problem, I take it that you don’t want to use an ultraviolet filter (This would kill off the weed) barley straw will work for some ponds, the problem is the amount that is required it also will take a long time to start working. By the time it has worked it is never sure that it is the barley straw or just a normal event, that would have taken place anyway. As a wild life person I would have just planted more water plants. You could also give the pool more shade. You don’t say if it is a new pool. Blanket weed is a normal problem as the chemical balance takes time to settle down. Good luck anyway.
