| Re: Bumble Bee Story. I try + grow as many bumblebee plants as possible. It's been shown that in recent winters that there are winter-active colonies of Bombus terrestris at least in the south. I'm still seeing workers of B. pascuorum on my Hebes (particularly Midsummer Beauty which is a great nectar plant), so I'm wondering whether this species is now following suit + overwintering or whether the summer colonies are just prolonged due to mild conditions, though we did have 3/4 frosty nights a week or so back? |
