The Bullace (Prunus domestica var. insititia) is a wild form of the Plum.

In Britain they are probably not native but are fairly widespread in hedgerows as relicts of former cultivation.

They are generally rather sour and better suited for cooking than eating fresh. You can occasionally obtain a few varieties from fruit tree suppliers the commonest being the Shepherd's Bullace which has white fruit while the Black Bullace is dark purple.
