contact some local consultants and volunteer your services in exchange for handling training - though it is the wriong time of year for GCN as they will be hibernating. Or contact your local wildlife trust on the same basis - This kind of networking will also help you build contacts and find work.
Gill catton would be the one to ask for detail , but she is away for a bit - In the mean time I dont know where you are in the country but I can put you in touch with consultants in the MK area who cover the south east if thats any help.
