Hi Jim,

Amanita ceciliae is the largest species belonging to the vaginatae section and almost always has the velar remnants on the cap, unlike most of the others in this section. It also often has zig-zag banding on the stem that darkens upon handling, quite an impressive fungus. There are in fact a few more species belonging to this section, such as A. argentea and A. nivalis among others.
