This is a new idea, we're aware that there is no perfect way of informing mods when an image has been ID'd and apparently the software won't allow any alternative methods. We can't allow users to name and move their own images because the Unidentified Gallery is unmoderated so it would mean anyone could upload anything and put it in the main gallery. Stu's idea is that if you write NEWTITLE in a reply to the image then we can search the gallery for the text 'newtitle'.
Personally, I'm still happy to deal with reports to the moderator, which I know is how you've been doing it lately. As far as I'm concerned you can carry on doing this (i.e. clicking the red exclamation mark and informing mods of the new ID)
