roach and rudd tend to shoal in deeper water during the coldest part of the winter but come up into the upper layers if a warm westerly moves in and makes the surface layer warmer. Pike go on a feeding frenzy and make all sorts of commotion in these conditions. You're probably on your second book by now though!
