We stayed in a cottage in Seascale. If you can ignore the power station on the horizon there is a very large sandy beach which our dogs loved, a secure garden and a couple of pubs and you are within easy reach by car of a lot of the lakes, particularly Wast Water (my favourite!). Do a google search for 'holiday cottage Seascale' and you'll find it
