Good idea Tracey. only suggestion I've got, (although they won't grow as high as the original trees) is Buddliah, which will definitely attract butterflies and other interesting things, and other bushes and trees that will attract wildlife, as Squeek said. You could also mask the fence with some climbers and creepers, which will also make a habitat for wildlife, and hang some bird nesting boxes on the fence, well before spring so the birds get used to them, and have the pleasure of birds nesting in them, as well as helping the birds. Then you could also get a HEDGEHOG box, but make sure there is a way in and out of your garden for the hedgehogs, only a small hole just big enough, so you don't get all the neighbourhood dogs.HEDGEHOGGY would advise you properly on this. You were understandably gutted when the trees disappeared, but my guess is that they were leylandii, which would have grown up and up and up, shielding your garden from the sun, so look on the brightside and enjoy the adventure of planning your new garden.Good Luck with the venture and Keep Us Posted, please..Posie...

I've just seen the last post...Leylandii ! !
