Not necessarily. During the winter months they quite often are seen in the same habitats as Common Snipe. I regularly see them at two of my local patches during the winter along with Common Snipe, in open marshland and in damp grasses surrounding fresh water lagoons. This time of the year especially when they are on the move from their breeding areas.
I agree, on the second lot of photos, in pic 1, you have Common Snipe.
