Browning on the cap is definitly cap colour and not remains of spores from overlapping caps, this is clear as the browning is perfectly central and is like a sunburst effect, yes there is a ring the one where you can't see it was where the stem broke at the point of the ring so it was not clear. Cap is very slightly peelable, but it won't peel right to the centre, about half way before it comes away.
