Dave & Earthdragon, hiya. At one time, here in Bristol, Osprey were rarely spotted on Blagdon and Chew Valley lakes. They would be spotted by some lucky spotters or Trout fishermen, as the bird or birds (assuming a pair) would stay in the area for a while, on their way to somewhere else, presumably Africa. Now they build platforms for the Osprey on both lakes. I'm told that they are resident now, but would that still mean they travel to Africa for the winter? As a fairly novice birdwatcher, I count myself extremely lucky to have seen one of these magnificant birds whilst walking my dogs. Phew, breathtaking
