Would be a couple of months late (as mentioned earlier, they winter in Africa) but not impossible, there's usually a few hanging around still first few weeks of October but most migrate in September.
could you have had brief views of a Grey partridge? (Bigger than a Thrush but size can be hard to judge accurately in the field)
