I really does sound like two stones beind smacked together!!
Here's one that took half an hour to finally settle long enough to photograph.
It kept coming back to the same perch for about 2 seconds then flying off. This time it stayed for about 10 seconds and I got the picture. (Also got soaked lying on wet grass for that half hour!!!)
