Re: Beach Fishing

If you fancy a bit of flounder fishing come across to Arnside on the River Kent estuary. They are in tip top condition now and will take lug on just about any rig. A three boom rig is favourite. Arnside Knott gives spectacular views and there are two good pubs, The Fighting Cocks and The Albion to cater for the inner man and to celebrate a bumper catch.

Choose a bigger tide (mid to spring) as neaps will not give you much water. Fish from the beach at the end of the prom right down to New Barns Bay and Blackstone Point or from the small "pier" mid prom if there's room.

Ordinary garden worms can be as good as lug at times. Sandside, just upstream, is also fishable over the high water period from the car parked at the side of the road.

Good walks in the area, Whitbarrow Scar and Silverdale, all with cracking views of Morecambe Bay and inland are worthwhile.
