The only other suggestions that I can think of to check out are a hornet or a horntail, but I wouldn't really describe either as furry.
A hoverfly may be worth a look. Perhaps a Volucella species although it is getting a bit late. Eristalis tenax or E. pertinax (Drone Fly) is a rather hardy alternative but a bit on the small size. |
