Hi Raye, welcome to Wild About Britain.
April sounds like a good time to me and I can think of some great bluebell woods throughout the UK where you can literally walk amongst tens of thousands of them.
If you gives us a general idea of where you plan to visit north east, south west etc, we'll see if we can dig up some places that might be worth a quick visit on your travels
