I also have this combination and I'm very pleased with the results it gives me.
I used to own a Sigma 150-500mm, and did try it with the 1.4 TC - I wouldn't really bother to be honest! The AF didn't work properly (couldn't get a lock most of the time) and the images were really soft. With a x2 TC it would be even worse!
