Another option Pauline.
Apply Neat Image NR to the whole image and save as a 2nd file. Add this as a 2nd layer to the original, non-NR image (Layer->New and then Copy/Paste should do it). Then just use the Eraser Tool on selected areas of the top layer to reveal the layer underneath.
