And at what point in your 'considered' response did you decide that the dove was mortally wounded and therefore beyond saving? I can't see from the OP's post that he intimated that, though almost certainly by witholding treatment he unfortunately contributed to its demise.
I suggested transport to a vet for purposes of examination and appropriate treatment ... euthanasia was only one possible outcome, and only after the condition had been clinically assessed and an informed prognosis made.
This is an open forum ... if you don't want you opinions to be open to criticism, them just maybe you should restrain them more.
