Raw conversion is dead easy with Canon's Digital Photo Professional which comes bundled with the camera. I use it all the time to convert the raw files I get with my 50D. I very rarely use any other programs to do any work on my images, a bit of tweaking of levels and possibly a crop and then resize and convert.
