There was an old myth that Barnacle Geese came from barnacles which is where their name comes from. Barnacles look a bit like Barnacle Geese in colour and you could see people thinking that they were tiny Barnacle Geese. The geese were never seen during the same season so people thought they were developing under the sea during this time.
I think they are crustaceans.
