It should be OK in good light but any converter will reduce image quality to some extent. You may have to manual focus, but most macro photographers prefer to do this anyway.

Check that the converter will physically fit but a Sigma converter should be OK. I sometimes use my Canon converter with my Sigma 180 macro by inserting a 12mm extension tube between the converter and lens to allow for the domed shape of that converter.
