Everything bolted rock solid on the tripod. The sun had just peeped into the sky and everything took on the warmth. Light coming over my shoulder.
Manual exposured to just keep detail in the feathers (took a few shots of the bird whilst it was walking about). Even thought the light was low the Egret seemed to reflect what was there.
for birds, in flight especially, and awkward lighting I would say practise with the manual exposure settings. That way if the bird flys against a dark bkgd or bright sky the camera meter wont be fooled into over or under exposing the image. A tip I picked up from a Marcus Conway workshop.
