I remember when I was photographing number 3 that I thought it was the same as number 1 but it doesn't look like it is. I've searched the "Egg, Larve and Caterpillars" Gallery for the three species mentioned and the only one in there is the green-veined white which I don't think I photographed. From Googling I think number 2 is the dot moth but I'm not sure about the others.

Here is the vapourer moth caterpillar that joined us for lunch...



And here are some more unidentified larvae...


Probably a species of sawfly.


No idea!

Here's a couple of hoverflies that are quite easy to identify...


Episyrphus balteatus - there's a lot of 'em about!


Rhingia campestris - can't mistake that snout!

Finally, the little snail that Mike spotted while photographing some bracket fungi is the plaited door snail...
