Speaking of focus stacking can I ask a (probably silly) question? - Is this technique pretty much only used on dead / non moving stuff in an indoors setup? I assume you need a focusing rail etc? Have seen some pictures from this technique and they are incredible. I'll try find you a link. To be honest you have probably found it already but I'll post back when I have one.

The programme that was recommended to me is CombineZ5. I havent really played yet but from other photo forums it can be used, with restrictions, handheld. Obviously a focussing rail is better for more control as long as the subject is static for a few seconds. The subject in the url is obviously dead it's a stack of 68 frames !! lol. I would be disappointed if I couldn't get say 5 or 6 images with a live subject....watch this space
