Re: Perseid Meteor Shower

It was cloudy here on Tuesday, so nothing at all...I could barely wait for Wednesday night. I started my vigil around 10pm, convinced that I would see nothing at all due to a street light directly outside my garden. (which had that very day been repaired after months of not working ) After moving around to various spots in our small garden, I found laying on the path behind the gate effectively "shaded" the street light, so I settled down to wait.
JOY! I saw my first streaker around 11pm and the second one shortly after. The third was absolutely stunning, I couldn't believe it! It must have been a large particle which burned up as it was a bright ball with a long "tail" and was definitely bigger than the others. I went on watching and saw five in all. Utterly thrilled, I had to give up as I'm up for work at 4.30am and cant function on two hours sleep these days!!
I'm not knowledgeable about any of this but I'm absolutely fascinated by events such as these. Watching those meteors made the hairs on the back of my neck stand up. Wonderful.
Cheers.
