Tell him to put grated carrot down and the slugs will feast happily on this and leave his prize plants alone..

Just happen to come across this post. I have quite a lot of slugs in my garden but also a very small pond with frogs in, would it be worth me leaving a small pile of grated carrot near the pond as to make some easy meals for the frogs aswell as attracting snails away from other plants. Would this be prone to rats?
