I would expect things to be much more advanced in the south-west, but Peterborough is in the east midlands. The weather is usually colder than in Devon and Cornwall. It would be interesting to know if there are signs of spring in Yorkshire and other northern areas. Surely it is only by knowing ones locality is it possible to see if things are changing over a number of years. This is one of the reasons why the closing of the CEH Research Centres is so wrong. They have been keeping records of each area's seasons and the changes year on year. To move some of the research to other areas means the loss of those records for the centres which will be closed.
