Hi Loony. I have doubts about it being a pearl bordered. They are one of the first fritillaries out, in May and early June, so should'nt be around now (though in a good year, a second brood occasionally does occur in August). I'm also not aware of any populations of them in the Midlands. Sadly they are a fast declining species. In terms of your location and current flight times, dark green fritillary would be the most likely.
