It's good that you made a choice.
Cats and wildlife don't mix. If you want to keep a cat you have to get used to the fact that they kill birds and small mammals.
This site gets lots of 'hand wringing' posts from cat owners claiming that they love wildlife, and how it upsets them when their pet kills wildlife. They can't get it into their heads that it's one thing or the other - cats _or_ wildlife, and I think they only post to salve their concience and be reassured by other cat owners that it's a shame, but there is nothing they can do about it.
I don't have so much an issue with cats killing wildlife, as the fact that cat owners keep sniveling about it, rather than accept the fact and shut-up, or not keep a cat!
