Here's a pic of the museum - a lay building of some mystery - it was never a church [it looks like one] but the floor is 4ft below the current street level [note low door on right] and the [so called 'cat'] pit at the rear decends another 8-10ft lower down to about sea's high tide mark in harbour opposite and in the intervening 1000 years since built sea level has dropped markedly along the English south coast
