That sounds nice - particularly if it was chocolate cake . . .
Although I do enjoy the events that my wildlife trust already runs, it's just that it gives a different dimension when there are people there of your own generation to talk to. Also, some events (like my local group's wildlife working parties) are actually scheduled for weekday mornings, so excluding most non-retired people.
Malcolm, I'm ashamed to admit I've never been to Rainham either. Don't know why really - as you say, it sounds good.
