Yes indeed, John was on the right track but it's not abnormal after all. I had a reply from Birmingham Botanical Gardens also identifying it correctly and they've asked me for some seeds if/when it ripens. I'll have to wait and see what happens with it when the flowers finish but it would be nice to think that Birmingham would introduce it into their fabulous gardens. Well worth a visit, by the way.
