Honestly, I had no idea they were there
There's a kind of marshy clearing in the middle of this reserve, and I'd gone into it to photograph some Round-leaved Wintergreens (of which there were dozens). I was also staring at the ground to try and find a half-decent specimen of Marsh Valerian out of all the ones that'd gone over, and that's when I spotted the three orchid spikes down by my feet
My record's not great when it comes to orchids, so no-one was more surprised than me
That Giant Scabious was definitely one of the highlights - it's a really impressive-looking plant
