Re: The Pennine Way Walk

I walked the Pennine Way when I was 19 or 20, way back in 1976. Fortunately for me, that was the year of the 'Great Drought' - almost the whole way was on springy turf instead of being a mess of mud. My friends and I were youth hostelling, so didn't have to carry as much gear as the likes of foxey mars who camp.

We dreaded the long final day over the Cheviots, but in the end we were so fit by the time it came round we just sailed through and finished it hours earlier than we'd expected to.
