As you say Beekeeper, they certainly can climb. When I lived in London I had a hedgehog which I had rescued from some children that were treating it as a football in the local park. Our gardens were separated by chain-link fencing about 5 feet high, and on several evenings found it at the top of the fence. Realising the garden was too small to support it with food I released it into a local woodland area...Bob
