There were some fabulous images among last year’s entries, but we didn’t pick an overall winner because the best shots were let down by weak ones in the same portfolios.

moral of the story is that is better to enter 5 excellent shots alone, than a portfolio of 20 with 5 excellent shots and 15 mediocre ones for padding. (NB this is a general observation - i'm not suggesting that dave or matt or anyone else is guilty of this)
