I wonder also about regional variations---perhaps our observations 'up north' differ from more southern climes and also whether there is more of a decline in urban areas than rural/semi rural locations.
ps I've just been on the RSPB news site and they are asking for help in a national survey to establish a pattern of prevalence/decline and there is an online form.
