Well... when I were a t' lass (think Mony Python Sketch)..

The brook at the end of the garden used to change colour everytime the bleach works discharged various stuff. Many a time the 'Ginny Green Teeth' would go white and die in the face of chemical onslaught.. I don't think the average person thought that perhaps this brook (amongst others) would all go into a river and so on and so forth..!!

Heaven knows what it did to everything else.... and don't get me started on the fog!!

Yes things have improved - but there's still a lot to be done. A quick fix of the most obvious doesn't fully address the basic issues of human impact.

Replacement of hedgerows that were ripped up not too long ago may be a small redress for political meddling mistakes ...Grrr
