You will be able to make a lovely little pond even in that area.
Try to have one sloping beach area for easy access in and out, shelves for marginals and part as deep as you can make it. This is so that it is less likely to freeze right to the bottom in a bad winter.
Have one section of shore where you can stand or kneel to peer into the depths, with a paving slab if you wish. Try not to ppave all around it because this makes it difficult for amphibians to get in and out, and they risk dessicating.
