This is an excellent way to see wildlife, let it come to you rather than charge around looking.
Having a "sit-spot" at the base of a tree is a regular thing for me, stay downwind if you want to see mammals though.

Visit your spot as much as you can, make a note of what you see and hear through the seasons, you'll feel more connected to the landscape and you'll feel part of the environment, not just a visitor
