i can vouch for the DCR 250
it is very sharp.
i don't know about the flash and exposure though
but i use the aperture priority setting, and my camera sets the shutter speed fine, so i dont see why it shouldn't work for shutter priority
(i'm not sure if it's called the same in nikon, but you should know what i mean
