Hello Vic with most Dslrs you have to do some post editing ,wether its cropping ,lighting,,touch of contrast even a touch of sharpening as all cameras leave pics slightly soft .
Yopu alway aim though to get as much as possible near perfect in the original shot first,I know what you are getting at with slide I used to use the Om10 with Kodachromne 64 in the old days and it was fun
