Butterfly Conservation Scotland are running a postcard survey for the Small Tortoiseshell Butterfly. This butterfly has shown a sharp decline in recent years in the south of Scotland, as well as in England and Wales. The postcard survey aims to find out how widespread the Butterfly is throughout Scotland at the moment.
The postcards will be available at local Libraries, Tourist Information Centres, Nature Reserves etc, and have a picture of a Small Tortoiseshell on the front, as well as information about its lifecycle on the back.
The survey is aimed at everyone, visitors to Scotland and residents, and you can take part either by filling in the postcard with details of your sighting(s) and sending it to the address printed on it, or by entering your sightings online on the Butterfly Conservation website.
Thanks.
