there are many recording groups for insects,invertebrates & spiders
a handy site that lists quite a few societies and groups is

also there is the National biodiversity network
http://www.searchnbn.net/ type in the species and up it will come. not completely up to date but still gives an idea of distribution. but personally i would google for the recording scheme also.
