A neighbour has just swopped me one of her jars of apple & blackberry jam for one of mine of gooseberry.
Normally I am leery of blackberries because of the raspberry beetle grubs. I once collected a polythene carrier bag full when I was on holiday on the Norfolk Broads intending to take home. After a couple of days the bottom of the bag was alive with maggots. I sifted them out and used the berries for wine. |
