how is it sinister? Its not really as if they put a secret stash of drugs into a film canister
I really enjoy it to be honest. It helped me stay relatively sane while there were no plants or fungi about this winter. It still let me get out a lot and not get that SAD thing that you get due to a lack of natural light ( I think)
As HW said some can be really challenging. finding those magnetic caches smaller than a penny are really challenging especially when searching through an iron bridge.
I'll have to admit though that having to stand around on a phone or searching a hole in a wall or bush looks quite sinister to the non geocaching community but thats their problem. Its best to be stealthy because all it takes is one person to let slip there is a treasure box in a tree and itll be gone the next day
