I think the point is that even if boddie is proligate in his carbon use , he is still going to be responsible for less of a carbon release - over time - than someone who uses it sparingly ,then goes on to have 4 children all of whom use a little bit and have 4 children each who use a little bit , and so on

the logic isnt flawless as ecosystems may be better able to absorb slow release over time than an imediate release now, but it is certainly true that it is difficult to claim to be completely environmentally responsible if you also have lots of kids
